About the role:
The Crown Counsel is a dedicated senior executive role supporting the Solicitor-General and working closely with the Crown Solicitor. This role will see you manage the activities and work program of the legal practice of the Solicitor-General. Working as the leader of this small team you will,
prepare submissions and appear as junior counsel on matters arising under the Constitution and other matters of significance / importance to the State; provide expert and authoritative counsel and advice relating to constitutional law, public law, statutory interpretation and other significant government matters for the State; focus on finding solutions to novel, complex constitutional and public law legal issues with a view to strategic outcomes for the State; advise Ministers, Director Generals and other senior government executives; and contribute to the positive culture as well as continuous improvement and development of Crown Law. Skills/Experience:
To be considered for this role you will have:admission as a Legal Practitioner with 10+ years' PAE in constitutional and public law; a high level of attention to detail; high standards of legal research and drafting well reasoned, technical legal opinions; a genuine passion for researching novel legal issues, reading case law equipping you to authoritatively advise on complex, intellectually challenging legal issues; and the confidence and maturity to work at the highest levels of government advising the Solicitor-General, Crown Solicitor and Ministers.
