We have reached a pivotal point in our growth and look forward to welcoming a full-time People & Culture Manager to the QUT Guild team.
How You Will Make a Difference As our People & Culture Manager, you will play a crucial role in leading and managing our human resources functions and driving initiatives that support the culture and performance of our not-for-profit organisation.
This role focuses on developing and implementing HR strategies, policies, and practices that support the organisation in achieving its mission and vision. You will role model leadership behaviours that foster an engaged culture and work closely with Guild Professional Staff (GPS) and the Student Representative Council (SRC) to ensure a productive, compliant, and inclusive workplace environment.
As a trusted adviser within the leadership team, you will influence the direction of the people strategy and lead the people function of the organisation. Your core responsibilities will include:
Broad HR Management and Advisory Culture Management Change Management Governance & Risk Management About You You will be a contemporary HR leader and an accomplished, trusted business adviser who can positively engage, influence, and advise colleagues at every level of the organisation. With a strong understanding of HR compliance, legal requirements, and best practice, as well as experience in strategic planning, you will thrive in a multifaceted role.
A Bachelor's degree in HR is required, with postgraduate studies in business or a related field being an advantage.
You will have experience coaching and influencing managers to uplift capability across the organisation and share knowledge and ideas to tackle workforce challenges. With strong commercial acumen and experience in sustainable change management, governance, and risk management, you will excel in a business experiencing strong growth. Able to shift seamlessly between strategic and operational priorities, you will enjoy working with a diverse group of stakeholders.
Experience in recruitment and industrial relations is beneficial but not essential, as we currently collaborate with external consultants to support People & Culture initiatives as needed.
What Your Success Looks Like Backed by a highly credentialed, approachable Managing Director and a supportive Board, your key success metrics over the first 12 months will include:
Systematically supporting all major HR functions Increasing employee engagement scores Maintaining a strong retention rate Embedding a People Development Framework, including succession planning Providing feedback, coaching, and advice Ensuring staff resourcing at efficient, manageable levels Offering timely support and coaching to managers in regard to people performance Ensuring external people partners deliver on scope, budget, and time Opportunities and Benefits QUT Guild is committed to creating a sustainable and robust model that supports our employees and students alike. This is a pivotal role requiring a strong office presence, although Friday is a standard work-from-home day, with modern workplace flexibility applied across the organisation.
