Our client is a Brisbane-based family office that handles investment management, properties, and assets. We seek a well-experienced
Group Accountant
to join their organisation in supporting the Financial Controller by overseeing key accounting and operational finance functions.
What will you be doing for this role?
As the
Group Accountant , your primary responsibilities will include financial and management reporting, ensuring compliance with taxation and regulatory requirements, and managing financial information. This role also involves preparing financial statements, analyzing data to identify trends, and offering insights for improvement.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports
Ensure compliance with tax laws and regulatory requirements, including preparing and submitting tax returns
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including reconciliations, journal entries, and ledgers
Collaborate with internal and external auditors during audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations
Analyse financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for operational improvement
Support budgeting and forecasting activities
Assist in managing cash flow, including monitoring accounts receivable and payable
Ensure compliance with industry standards and company policies related to financial reporting
Provide support for special financial projects as assigned by the Financial Controller
What will it take to succeed?
To be considered for the role, we are looking for a candidate with extensive experience and the following skills:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
CPA or equivalent qualification preferred
5-7 years of experience in accounting or finance
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, financial regulations, and local taxation
Proven experience in management accounting, including Accounts payable/receivable (AP/AR), Cashflow management, Month-end reporting, Payroll, working with auditors, and GST and income tax reconciliations and reporting
Valued experience in accounting for share investments, property development, and Self-Managed Superannuation Fund (SMSF) work
Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
