Payroll Team Leader

Location: Head Office - Melbourne, VICTerm: 18-Months Fixed-Term ContractThe Payroll Team Leader is accountable for assisting the National Payroll Manager in all aspects of the national payroll function, leading a team of up to nine to deliver a high-quality payroll service that ensures accuracy, compliance, and timeliness for over 8,000 employees.
This includes interpreting and applying various awards, policies, and procedures relating to pay rates, leave entitlements, and other employment conditions.This position oversees all aspects of payroll operations, including superannuation, tax compliance, and workers' compensation legislation.
In collaboration with HR and other stakeholders, the Payroll Team Leader will embed a culture of service excellence and continuous improvement, providing insightful analytics, reporting, and implementing efficient processes and systems.Key ResponsibilitiesManage end-to-end payroll operations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with all statutory and organisational requirements.Implement and refine payroll systems and processes, leveraging tools such as Preceda, Workday, and Kronos to achieve operational efficiency.Inspire and mentor a team of payroll professionals, fostering a high-performance culture through coaching, collaboration, and continuous improvement.Maintain robust compliance practices by ensuring adherence to legislative requirements, awards, enterprise agreements, and taxation standards.Act as the escalation point for complex payroll matters, delivering innovative and sustainable solutions.Develop insightful payroll dashboards and reporting tools to inform strategic decision-making and ensure transparency.Professional Attributes and QualificationsProven experience in payroll leadership within large, decentralised organisations.Extensive knowledge of payroll legislation, superannuation, leave entitlements, and enterprise agreements.Proficiency in advanced Excel and payroll systems such as Preceda, Workday, and Kronos.Exceptional organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.Demonstrated ability to manage transformational change and implement best practices in payroll operations.Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to convey complex payroll concepts to diverse audiences.If you are a results-driven professional with a passion for payroll leadership and a commitment to operational excellence, we invite you to apply and join our journey of transformation and innovation.
