Position Overview
TheirCare is a leading and innovative childcare provider dedicated to ensuring the well-being and development of children in our care. We are seeking a talented Payroll Specialist who will be responsible for managing and processing end to end payroll, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and company policies. You will also assist in financial operations, including accounts payable and receivable when required, financial reporting, and reconciliations.
Duties
Managing the end to end fortnightly payroll
Calculating correct employee pay by considering hours worked, split shift allowances, taxes, workcover, superannuation and other factors
Processing electronic employee payments on a fortnightly basis
Processing holiday, sick, maternity and paternity leave payments
Answering employee questions about their timesheets and payslips
Processing PAYG deductions and sending payroll information to ATO
Obtaining and verifying direct debit banking information, tax file number and Superannuation details from employees
Checking timesheets within HumanForce to verify rostered hours and contracted hours are complete
Develop and review payroll policies and procedures and ensure they are current and remain fit for purpose.
Preparation of daily, weekly and monthly reports
Distribution of fortnightly payslips to employees
Onboarding and Offboarding of employees
Involvement in new payroll system implementation
Ensuring compliance with applicable payroll legislation
Working closely with the finance team to ensure all payroll aspects are compliant with the national law and regulations, including Fair Work Act and National Employment Standards (NES).
Having in-depth knowledge of the Childrens Services Award MA000120
Single Touch Payroll (STP) and Payroll tax reporting
Superannuation Guarantee compliance and increases applied.
Annual leave, Personal Leave and LSL calculations.
Workcover compliance in relevant States.
Meeting reporting obligations
Ensuring all work cover requirements are submitted timely, including annual wage declarations and estimations
PAYG reporting
Superannuation reporting
Skills & Qualifications
A clear understanding of payroll laws, taxes and PAYG procedures
Strong verbal communication, including active listening, for accurately answering employee questions
High level of mathematical skills
Knowledge of economics, accounting and other financial concepts
Computer literacy, especially confidence using office and payroll software such as Excel with VLOOKUP and MYOB Payroll
Self-motivation and organisational skills to meet deadlines
Initiative and ambition to develop professionally
A qualification in the relevant field is desired
