Deliver contemporary and efficient payroll services unpinned by payroll transformation and simplified processesHybrid working arrangementsAn exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Payroll Officer to join the City of Boroondara's Payroll Team. The role is ideally suited to someone who is looking to work in a dynamic Payroll Team that is part of the wider People, Culture and Development's Operations and Systems Team.
About the role This position assists the Payroll team, under the lead of the PCD Operations and Systems Lead, in the payment of Council employees and related payroll activities ensuring compliance with conditions of employment covered by our Enterprise Agreement and Employment Contracts. This position is part of the wider People, Culture and Development team.
Key responsibilities will include: Assist a small payroll team in the preparation of the fortnightly payroll for over 1,000 employeesBe a right hand person to the Senior Payroll Officer, running off cycle pays, workcover, super and defined benefits reconciliationsAbility to interpret a complex Enterprise Agreement that covers 140+ different occupations and local work arrangements for different business units across the councilAbility and knowledge to step up to the Senior Payroll Officer role to cover leave and RDO daysProcess Employment Changes and Annual Salary incrementsManage the more complex payroll queriesProcess Higher Duties requests and manage secondmentsPrepare Workers Compensation calculationsPrepare End of Financial Year reportingWhat will you bring to the role? Demonstrated experience using a large digital payroll system for over 1,000 employeesDemonstrated experience managing end-to-end "in-house" payroll service to a business and sound working knowledge of the all payroll concepts i.e. managing all leave typs, workcover, contract changes, annual increases, end of financial year processes etcValues the importance of customer service and promptly communicating and resolving payroll issues and requestsDemonstrated ability to effectively communicate and handle enquiries with tact, clarity and diplomacyHigh level of attention to detail to ensure accuracy and efficient work practices, with the commitment to quality outcomes.Strong organisational skills to understand deliverables for the functionDemonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, including the ability to effectively gain the cooperation of stakeholdersExperience in the application and the interpretation of awards/ Legislative agreements and organisational policy.Intermediate to advanced Excel skillsGood working knowledge of HRIS and other people systemsWhat's in it for you?
