About Edge's Corporate Services Team Edge's Corporate Services team does not work directly with our clients but provides back-office administrative support to keep the business running smoothly and allow our DES, NDIS and Project Employment teams to focus on our clients. Corporate Services is responsible for delivering Edge's finance, payroll, IT and office administration functions.
Position Purpose The Payroll Officer is responsible for the provision of accurate and timely payment of wages and salaries in line with legislative requirements, policies and procedures, as well as high level customer service to Edge's management and employees on conditions of employment matters. The position coordinates payroll activities including payroll related enquiries and payroll processing, ensuring appropriate levels of quality, and compliance is met in line with appropriate legislation, regulations, policy and procedures.
Key Responsibilities and Key Outcomes Maintain governance of employee costings, ensuring compliance with relevant industrial instruments, Modern Awards, National Employment Standards, ATO superannuation, and tax legislation. Prepare for the fortnightly payroll by collating and reviewing timesheets, leave applications and sick leave documentation in a timely manner, managing employee deductions such as salary packaging, salary sacrificing and child support payments, and calculating termination and redundancy payments. Resolve any payroll discrepancies. Process fortnightly payroll, ensuring payroll data is checked, approved, and submitted within the payroll deadlines and that payroll is administered and employees are paid in accordance with relevant awards, contracts, organisational policies and relevant legislation. Manage all administration related to employee salary packaging and / or salary sacrificing. Manage all payroll-related onboarding of new employees, ensuring all required information has been provided and being responsible for uploading it to Employment Hero. Update the payroll system with changes to employee's payroll and leave information as required and ensure that any updated payroll-related employee records are uploaded to Employment Hero. Respond to payroll-related queries in a timely and friendly manner, ensuring high levels of service. This includes managing the Payroll email inbox. Communicate proactively and regularly with employees about upcoming payroll-related events such as end of FBT, public holidays and EOFY reporting. Providing accurate and timely support in the reporting of absenteeism, workers compensation, etc. as required Prepare payroll-related reports for management and provide ad-hoc reporting to meet internal and statutory obligations. Review and verify submitted reimbursement requests from employees. Reconcile company credit cards Provide administrative support to the Financial Controller and People and Culture Manager as required. Comply with the terms of the employment contract, as well as any and legislative requirements and workplace policies and procedures established by Edge, such as work health and safety policies, Code of Conduct, confidentiality agreements, and anti-discrimination policies. Complete other tasks as required. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of general payroll practices, procedures, operations and legislation. Appreciation of working as part of a team and working independently. Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple and competing work tasks and deliver to agreed deadlines. Proficient in Microsoft excel, and competency across Office 365, MS Teams, and SharePoint. Meticulous record keeping and attention to detail. Highly organised work practices. Demonstrated ability to use initiative and possess a "can do" approach to work. Qualifications & Experience At least three (3) years' end-to-end payroll experience. Demonstrated experience working within the requirements of Modern Awards A relevant qualification such as a Certificate III in Accounts Administration, Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping or a Diploma of Payroll Services is highly desirable. Experience working with Employment Hero is advantageous. Mandatory Requirements Full Australian working rights National Police Clearance Current Western Australian C class driving license.
