Payroll Officer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and enthusiastic Payroll Officer to join a local government organisation SOR. This role offers a unique chance to utilise your skills as a payroll officer within a fast-paced environment. The position is a 12-month contract, providing an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience and make a significant impact within the public sector.
What you'll do:
As a Payroll Officer, you will play an integral role in managing weekly pay runs, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in all transactions.

Manage one pay run each week as part of a team handling four pay runs in total Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll transactions Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and compliance requirements Liaise with various departments to resolve any payroll discrepancies Provide support and advice on payroll-related queries from staff Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the payroll function What you bring: Proven experience in managing a partially automated payroll process Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple pay runs each week Comfortable working with systems that may not be intuitive Strong understanding of payroll legislation and compliance requirements Excellent interpersonal skills for liaising with various departments Commitment to continuous improvement within the payroll function What sets this company apart:
