DroneShield (ASX: DRO) offers an opportunity to solve some of the world's most challenging technical problems in Electronic Warfare, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, RF sensing, Sensor Fusion, and distributed systems.Working with high-profile customers across militaries, government agencies, airports, critical infrastructure, law enforcement, and many others.With an approximately $1bn market capitalisation and having raised approximately $250m in 2024 alone, DroneShield is undergoing hypergrowth, fueled by the rapidly increasing use of drones for nefarious applications, from battlefield to terrorism, contraband delivery, and commercial espionage.This role is in the DroneShield Sydney headquarters in Pyrmont, Sydney.
There are approximately 200 staff based in the 4,000sqm facility today, scheduled to grow to approximately 300 staff by the end of 2026.Overseas on-the-ground presence includes Virginia (USA), Denmark, Germany, and Dubai, as well as distributors in over 70 countries globally.About the roleThe Company is looking to recruit a Payroll Manager who will be a critical member of the finance function.

You will be working from home 4 days per week, 1 day in the office.This position is an exceptional opportunity for a results-driven individual with a desire to develop their career in a fast-growing ASX defence technology company which has been ranked within the Australian Financial Review Fast 100 list for 2021, 2022, and 2023.Responsibilities, Duties and ExpectationsThe responsibilities below apply to the global business.Collaborate with the outsourced payroll vendor to process payroll for approx.
250 employees in the US and AustraliaProcess monthly payroll, including commission and bonusesProcess terminations in accordance with statutory lawsPrepare and lodge accurate monthly payroll tax returns for relevant statesEnsure compliance with Superannuation requirementsReconcile annual PAYG Reports to ATO's STPPrepare wage estimates and declarations for Workers Compensation InsurancePrepare payroll end-of-month reconciliations and reportsMaintain and update employees' personal and payroll detailsGenerate report on outstanding annual leave balances on a monthly basisLiaise with and resolve payroll issues/general enquiries with employees and managementDocument and improve payroll processes and proceduresAdminister timesheet systemCollect and follow-up on weekly timesheets, ensuring they are submitted by the deadlineGenerate timesheet reports for various business unitsReview and approve Independent Contractor invoicesCollaborate with external travel agent to review and approve employee travelQualifications, Experience and SkillsProfessional qualification in Payroll, Human Resources, Finance, or related field5+ years of end-to-end payroll experienceFamiliar with interpreting Awards and payroll-related legislationAbility to work autonomously and as part of a geographically distributed teamAbility to work outside of core hours on occasionExcellent written/verbal communication#J-18808-Ljbffr
