Pasture Feedbase Research Fellow/ Senior Research Fellow Be a part of world leading research and industry development Provide leadership, guidance and direction to PhD students Full time, 3 year fixed-term position based in Burnie About the opportunity We are seeking to appoint a Pasture Feedbase Senior Research Fellow within the Tasmanian Institute of Agriculture, which is part of the College of Sciences and Engineering.
The Tasmanian Institute of Agriculture (TIA) delivers world leading research, industry development, extension and education programs with strong links to key stakeholders in industry and through its Joint Venture with the Tasmanian Government.
The mission of TIA is to enable Tasmanian food producers and processors to accelerate primary sector productivity while maintaining and improving Tasmania's land and water quality for future generations.
The Livestock Production Centre in TIA focuses on research, development and training programs that promote Tasmania as the global leader in profitable, environmentally sustainable, and ethical grass-fed livestock production.
We work closely with key stakeholders in the generation and transfer of new knowledge and existing best practice directly to livestock producers.
What you'll do: Make a substantial and sustained contribution to the University in achieving its strategic objectives and fulfilling its operational responsibilities.
Lead a program of high-quality research of international standing.
Provide academic leadership, particularly in fostering outstanding research and/or learning and teaching.
Provide scientific extension advice to clients and stakeholders through publications, technical reports and presentations at field days, conferences and meetings relevant to pasture and forage science and associated fields.
Lead the development and maintenance of productive and effective links inside the University and locally and nationally with the discipline.
­ What we're looking for: A PhD in a relevant field.
A strong and continuing commitment to a research portfolio.
Sound knowledge of and experience with pasture based ruminant livestock production systems.
Experience designing projects and working with industry stakeholders.
Demonstrated experience in supervision of research higher degree students Salary details Appointment to this role will be at Academic Level B or C and will have a total remuneration package of up to $129,861 to $178,024 including 17% superannuation.
