The role This is a rare opportunity for someone with a keen interest in politics and a commitment to the values of the Liberal Party. Reporting to the NSW Deputy State Director, in this key role, you will be responsible for managing the Party Affairs section of the Division and deal with membership, candidate selection, disputes and Party committees. This is a critical role in the NSW Division and involves:
Managing the process of membership applications, candidate selection and nomination for federal, state and local government electionsManaging internal party election processes for State Council, State Executive, Women's Council and Young Liberal CouncilAdvising on the Party Constitution to branches, conferences and the State ExecutiveAssisting in making rulings on internal disputes and complaints, challenges, and other constitutional mattersAssisting in the preparation and management of Party meetingsThis important and challenging role offers you considerable autonomy, responsibility and the opportunity to deal with a wide network of stakeholders including MPs and members of the legal and business community. This is initially a 14-month contract appointment with the possibility of extension and permanency.
About you In this role it is essential that you have strong attention to detail, well-developed organisational skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines. A legal background is ideal and a minimum of 2-3 years relevant experience is sought. Knowledge of dispute resolution, administrative law and constitutional interpretation would be highly regarded. The successful candidate will be decisive and calm with a measured and ethical approach with the ability to maintain impartiality. Any prior experience in managing people and volunteers will be valuable.
