The Sandringham Football Club is an Australian Rules Football Club based in Sandringham, Melbourne. The Club was formed in 1929 and is currently aligned with the St Kilda Football Club. The Club manages teams playing in the Victorian Football League (VFL). The 2025 season will mark the inaugural year as the Sandringham Zebras VFLW.
About the Role:
The VFLW Physical Performance Manager is responsible for ensuring that individual athlete and team performance requirements are continually developed and maintained to a VFLW level.
This role will have a strong link with our AFLW, St Kilda Football Club program.
Responsibilities:
This role manages a team of athletes and will be responsible for delivering the overall Strength & Conditioning program including, but not limited to, competition training, rehabilitation whilst working in conjunction with the Clubs allied health professionals.
Create and implement comprehensive high-performance programs for pre-season, in-season, and off-season phases.
Design initiatives aimed at optimising athlete performance and preparation;
Coordinate the implementation of high-performance programs in alignment with coaching strategies and performance demands of the AFLW program.
Monitor, assess, and manage player workloads, physical performance, and overall athletic development.
Integrate injury prevention strategies, strength and conditioning, rehabilitation in collaboration with medical personnel;
Cultivate a collaborative environment for effective player management and athlete rehabilitation, working closely with medical staff, physiotherapists, and coaches.
Uphold professional ethics and Sports Integrity Australia, while maintaining accurate and comprehensive performance and fitness data.
About You:
Undergraduate qualification in Exercise Science or similar field of study required
Post Graduate qualification in Exercise Science or similar field of study desirable
Associate L2 ASCA accredited coach as a minimum (or working towards)
Demonstrates high level knowledge across sports management, exercise science and rehabilitation
Demonstrated experience working in a multi-disciplinary team is preferable
Ability to build strong relationships within the staff and playing group
Willingness and ability to work weekends and travel for interstate fixtures
Current or willingness to obtain a National Police Clearance and Working with Children Check
