The Parks and Gardens branch is responsible for the care, management, and operation of a comprehensive network of public open space and recreational areas established for active and passive recreation for the community and the preservation of the natural features of the landscape and environment along the Sunshine Coast, largely within the urban environment.
About the Role: As a Parks Worker/Operator, you will carry out key plant operation activities in delivering and maintaining the efficient and effective day-to-day operation of parks, natural areas, roadside vegetation, and landscape improvement activities.
Responsibilities: Support the implementation of Council's Street Tree Master Plan and delivery of street tree planting by carrying out tree planting and maintenance of juvenile trees to meet high quality standards and productivity.Carry out horticulture and landscaping tasks such as planting, weeding, mulching, pruning of trees and shrubs, mowing, irrigation, turf management, plant propagation, and removal of debris and litter from parks and gardens.Assist and undertake landscape construction and maintenance, spraying and controlling pests in parks and gardens, and general labouring tasks.Minimum Requirements: You will possess a Certificate II in Horticulture or relevant experience, an understanding of AS4373:2007 Pruning Amenity Trees and AS2303:2015 Tree Stock for Landscape use. You will also possess a CPCCOHS1001A - Work Safely in the Construction Industry – White Card, and a current "C" class driver's licence & LR Licence.
Essential to your success is physical agility and the level of fitness, strength, and dexterity to carry out labouring and frequent heavy lifting & bending. Appointment to this position is subject to completion of a pre-employment medical assessment.
