About this opportunity:The team you will join contributes to maintaining and preserving Mackay Regional Council's Park assets by undertaking basic gardening, landscape improvements and general maintenance duties. The ideal candidate will have:
Demonstrated experience and expertise in mowing and operating small plant equipment, including tractors, mowers, chainsaws, mulchers, brush cutters, chippers, blower vacs.Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team and strong attention to detail with ability to prioritise tasks effectively.Safety as a high priority when operating plant and equipment and take pride in their work.Essential Qualifications, Experience & Skills:General Construction Induction TrainingQLD "C" Class Drivers Licence or interstate equivalentQualifications and or experience in Horticulture/Arboriculture will be highly desirable.Experience in the operation and maintenance of large ride-on mowers, whipper snippers and small plant including power tools and equipment used for general maintenance tasks.Why work for Mackay Regional Council?Mackay Regional Council offers a dynamic, progressive and financially sound local government, with responsibility for $3.5 billion worth of assets and employing almost 1200 dedicated staff in a vibrant, rapidly growing region where sugar, mining, beef, tourism and retail drive the economy. In addition to the above, we also offer the following benefits:Base annual salary of $57,018 - $59,319 + allowance as applicable (level offered will be dependent on successful candidates' qualification and experience)Up to 18% superannuation (conditions apply).Choice of 4 or 5 weeks' annual leave with 17.5% leave loading.Flexible work arrangements with a 9 day fortnight roster.May be eligible for salary sacrificing options.Study and assistance programs for career development.Learning and career development opportunities.Employee Assistance Program.Employee health and wellbeing initiatives.Active Social Clubs.Council is committed to the safety of its employees and requires an immunisation program for identified roles.
