Parks Maintenance Officer Melbourne, Victoria, Australia Be the First to Apply Job Description Parks Maintenance Officer Reference number: 10422 Closing date: 11:00pm, 18 October 2024 Full-time permanent Salary commencing at $67,336.54 plus 11.5% superannuation, commensurate with skills and experience Band 3 The Opportunity Moonee Valley is seeking dedicated and experienced Parks Maintenance Officers to join our Parks and Gardens team.
In this role, you will ensure the maintenance, management, and enhancement of the Council's parks and reserves, ensuring high-quality civic amenities and public safety.
You will play a crucial role in maintaining green spaces and leading efforts to enhance public enjoyment of our natural areas.
Responsibilities Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current horticulture and parks maintenance practices, tools, and equipment Operate and maintain machinery, tools, and equipment in accordance with safety regulations and according to manufacturer's specifications for maximum preservation and presentation.
This includes performing safety checks and reporting any defects.
Record all operational activities on Council's asset management system using the electronic equipment provided.
Perform minor capital works and ensure they are completed on time and within budget constraints.
Lead a positive safety culture and motivate team members in adopting innovative practices.
Collaborate with other departments across the Council to ensure smooth operation and efficient service delivery.
Report issues related to equipment, customer inquiries, or facility problems to supervisor.
Work collaboratively across the Parks & Gardens department and wider organisation.
Skills & Experience The ideal candidate will hold a Certificate IV in Horticulture or possess substantial relevant experience, along with well-developed verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to draft reports and correspondence.
Candidate will have a strong working knowledge of the plant, machinery, tools, and equipment necessary for the section, and a thorough understanding of the proper maintenance of parks and reserves.
Additionally, the candidate will have demonstrated experience in supervising staff, contractors, and park maintenance personnel.
A current and valid Victorian Driver's Licence, along with a medium rigid driver's licence is required for this role.
