About the team The Paralympic National Personal Carers will be a part of the National Performance Support Systems team, whose role it is to create a united, collaborative world-leading Performance Support network across the HP system that enhances the impact of the Performance Team on sustainable performance outcomes.
About the role Carers play a crucial role in enabling para-athletes to perform at their best by providing essential daily care support, and ensuring athletes can focus on their training and competitions. Their dedication helps create a stable and empowering environment, allowing para-athletes to reach their full potential. It is therefore essential to recognise Carers as integral members of the broader performance support team in elite para-sport.
We are seeking a dedicated and visionary National Personal Care Lead to join our team. This pivotal role will connect personal care workers and carers working with para-athletes across the Australian high-performance (HP) sport system. The aim is to create a supportive community, enhance practices, and set standards of care, all while supporting our athletes and teams to achieve excellence.
About you – To be successful in this role you will possess the following capabilities:
Demonstrated understanding of the personal care needs of athletes and how personal care support can facilitate high-performance success. Experience providing personal care support to elite athletes. Exceptional stakeholder management skills and an ability to communicate clearly. Proven capability in project management. Experience working in a multidisciplinary team. Certification relevant to personal or disability support (preferred, not essential). Demonstrated ability to provide leadership through influence to achieve high personal and team performance and meet organisational and business objectives (preferred, not essential). Demonstrated capacity to provide timely, compelling, and concise advice to inform executive members and senior management to support decision making (preferred, not essential). This position is offered as a Fixed Term position until 30 June 2026 with the possibility of being extended or made ongoing.
