Great opportunity for UNI students or the need for flexible working hoursUndertake administrative tasks within the Women's Bail Advocacy ProgramWe offer a not-for-profit salary package which maximises your take-home payPrimary Purpose of the RoleThe primary responsibility of the Paralegal Women's Bail Advocacy Program, Criminal Law Practice is to assist Solicitors in the delivery of the WBAP.
The position holder will be responsible for undertaking a range of high quality and efficient administrative tasks supporting matters currently before the criminal court, and liaising with professionals, including Police, Solicitors, Court Staff, Corrective Services, and other Justice staff to ensure the smooth running of WBAP.

The Paralegal will be responsible for:
Undertake administrative tasks within the WBAP, including opening new files, drafting, and filing applications, communicating with clients and their families, rehabilitation facilities, and other relevant service providers all within agreed timeframes.Organise client files and documentation including input of data into client databases, including opening, closing, archiving files and other general data entry.Liaise with Police, Solicitors, Court Staff, Corrective Services staff, WBAP staff, other ALS staff members and stakeholders for specified tasks as requested by solicitors or WBAP manager including sending briefs, confirming dates, making appointments.Assist the Crime Administration team with managing the Redfern reception area or the Women's Legal Service reception area in Newcastle and operate the office phone system between the hours of 9.00 am to 5.00 pm and providing secretarial support services to Criminal Law Solicitors when required.Prepare correspondence, briefs of evidence, subpoenas, affidavits, court reports and other documents using MS Office.About YouWe're looking for someone who brings:
Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.Proven computer systems skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook and typing skills with a minimum of 35 wpm.Commitment to the principles of social justice.Capacity to behave in a culturally appropriate manner.Excellent phone manner and communication skills.Pre-Employment RequirementsALS is committed to implementing safe recruitment practices.
