About Us Palmerston Association is a leading and respected not for profit provider of alcohol and other drug services. We have a rich and proud history of providing support through a range of services including counselling, groups, residential rehabilitation, and educational initiatives.
About the role The Aboriginal Engagement Officer will deliver a culturally secure alcohol and drug service (AOD) to the community. The role includes outreach services and support to individuals and families struggling with alcohol and other drug issues, working with allied agencies including referrals and shared care. It will complement allied services by providing reciprocal referral pathways, consultation and shared care for Aboriginal people.
Skills and Experience: Strong Aboriginal community based experience and connectionKnowledge of alcohol and drug issuesWell developed assessment and counselling skillsAbility to work with and be part of a team.Demonstrated organisational and time management skillsHigh level communication skills, both verbal and writtenSound knowledge of Microsoft OfficeA valid driver's licence and willingness to travel.Pay Level is equivalent to Level 4 – Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010.
