Are you a General Paediatrician looking for a varied clinical role in a regional area, but within commuting distance of Melbourne?
Come and join our enthusiastic paediatric team at Bacchus Marsh Hospital on a permanent full-time basis, in a position where you will really have an impact for your patients and the local community.
The General Paediatrician will provide care for neonates on the postnatal ward, and in the 3-bed inpatient special care nursery.
The Bacchus Marsh maternity service delivers approximately 600 babies per year and the inpatient SCN currently cares for infants from 37 weeks gestation within a Level 2-3 capability framework. The unit is serviced 24 hours/day by obstetricians, anaesthetists, and paediatricians.
Family-friendly accommodation is provided at Bacchus Marsh free of charge for on-call periods (for those not living in the area).
You will have the opportunity to help shape the direction of the service as it expands, working collaboratively to develop and implement policies to support a unique regional maternity service within the supportive environment of the nearby tertiary services.
There will be opportunity to be involved in developing models of care for the new Melton Hospital for a Paediatrician interested in new service development.
There are ample opportunities to teach and supervise junior medical staff, nursing and midwifery staff, and you will take an active role in planning and delivering educational activities for the unit. You will participate in quality and safety and clinical improvement activities, including review of clinical incidents, with support from the Head of Unit.
If you are interested and suitably qualified there is the opportunity to have a substantial clinical leadership portfolio with the support of the Head of Paediatric Services and other clinical leaders within the Women's and Children's Division (see additional position description), but this is an optional aspect of the role.
The Paediatrician will also provide outpatient services in general and developmental paediatric clinics. The role works closely with Melton Health and you may elect to do some clinics from the Melton site which has a busy paediatric ambulatory service specializing in the assessment and management of children with complex developmental and behavioural needs. There is a strong collegiate approach from the multidisciplinary team that includes psychologists, speech pathologists, occupational therapists, dietitians, social workers, and physiotherapists and there are ample opportunities for peer discussion.
The Melton unit runs group programs and individual assessment clinics in a collaborative manner, providing Best Care to the children in the western suburbs.

There are high quality private and public schools in the region, and a wide range of sporting, medical, and retail services. The V-Line train stops at Bacchus Marsh on the service between Melbourne and Ballarat.
To be Successful in this Role, you will: Have FRACP-recognised qualifications as a General Paediatrician and hold AHPRA specialist registration.Have experience in the assessment and management of a range of general, behavioural and developmental conditions, including autism spectrum disorders.Have experience in neonatal resuscitation and be committed to ongoing in-service maintenance of these skills.Have a strong commitment to patient-centred care and encourage consumer participation, shared decision-making and continuity of care.Contribute to a positive organisational culture and role model professionalism with respectful collaboration, effective communication, and ethical clinical care within the multidisciplinary team.Actively participate in teaching and supervision of peers, Junior Medical Staff, nursing, midwifery, and allied health staff and students.Have experience or interest in clinical leadership (desirable).For further information, please contact:
