General Manager, St Luke's and St Vincent's Hospitals The Organisation Calvary is a not-for-profit, Catholic health care organisation dedicated to providing compassionate care to the most vulnerable in our communities. Established in 1885 by the Sisters of the Little Company of Mary, Calvary has since grown into a national network of 14 hospitals, 72 residential care and retirement communities, and 19 community care service centres across Australia.

The Opportunity The General Manager is responsible for leading the operations of Calvary Launceston, including St Luke's and St Vincent's Hospitals, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-focused care in line with Calvary's strategic direction. Reporting to the Regional CEO, the General Manager will build and lead a high-performing team, drive financial and operational performance, and ensure continuous service improvement across the hospitals.
Key responsibilities of the General Manager include:
Leading and supporting a high-performing team, fostering a collaborative culture aligned with Calvary's values. Developing and implementing strategic initiatives to enhance service delivery, foster community engagement, and contribute to long-term growth opportunities. Managing financial stewardship, ensuring compliance with regulations, and improving resource utilisation across the hospitals. Overseeing quality management, clinical governance, and ensuring the delivery of safe, sustainable care. Engaging with stakeholders, representing Calvary within the community, and promoting partnerships to support healthcare advancements and advocacy. About You We are seeking an experienced and dynamic leader with proven expertise in operational management, business development, and stakeholder engagement. You will demonstrate a strong commitment to Calvary's mission, leading significant change processes and driving operational excellence to achieve strategic objectives.
The ideal candidate will bring extensive leadership experience in managing complex healthcare operations, with strong financial acumen and the ability to foster effective relationships, particularly in union and government environments. Your hands-on approach will be key in managing diverse teams, fostering growth, and ensuring operational efficiency across clinical and non-clinical areas.
A genuine commitment to long-term leadership within the Tasmanian healthcare system is essential, as is a focus on delivering people-centered care, driving continuous improvement, and identifying and fostering new business opportunities for organisational growth. Your ability to inspire transformation, implement innovative solutions, and maintain strong partnerships will be critical to success in this role.
