Transport Operator / Transport PlannerRole: Operations Assistant
We are looking to recruit a Transport Operator to work within our busy distribution department. Working within a team providing good and accurate communication to customers and drivers. Good geographical knowledge of the Southeast of England is preferable along with transport knowledge regarding legal compliance, drivers' hours, vehicle dimensions, weights, and capacity.
Main Purpose of JobTo meet UK Domestic customers' requirements for the safe and efficient transport of their cargo effectively and in accordance with company operational procedures and statutory requirements including Health & Safety to the satisfaction of clients and the profit of the company.
Tasks May Include:Prepare correct documentation to the Warehouse department for loading/offloading cargo to vehicles, in a timely manner.Perform and correctly implement General Administration, e.g. invoicing; filing; queries; claims; check costs in accordance with departmental requirements.Communicate efficiently and effectively with internal and external customers, Drivers, suppliers, and other offices.Assisting planning or re-planning of Distribution vehicles/routes.Utilise vehicle fleet in the most effective way.Any reports/KPI's required.Covering the Distribution planner during holiday periods.Essential Skills/Requirements:Excellent CommunicatorGood Customer ServiceProficient in PC and Transport Operating SystemsKnowledge of Drivers' Hours & Transport RegulationsAbility to multi-task under pressureProblem solvingWork effectively as part of a teamPrevious experience of routing HGV vehicles and knowledge of the south east regionSet hours of 0800-1700. Cover of early and late shift needed for staff Holidays five weeks a year.
