Operations Manager - Production Heavy Industrial ManufacturingSeeking an experienced Production leader to manage the operations of a major heavy industrial manufacturing company, located in the Illawarra.
One of Australia's best equipped specialist workshops for Fabrication & Machining, and Heat Treatment is located centrally in the heavy industrial area on Port Kembla.
ROLE Reporting to the General Manager you will lead Production and ensure your team (supervisors and engineering trades) are productive, working to the highest standards, and meet the production schedules & plans in a safe and timely way.Managing Workshop Supervisors and the Planning/Scheduling team you will lead, develop and improve Production employees to perform their roles safely, efficiently and effectively.Continuously evaluate and improve Production processes to drive efficiency, quality, and output, monitoring performance related to production efficiency, quality, and on-time delivery.Working closely with the Planner/Schedulers you will manage production schedules to provide workload visibility.Forecast and manage production resource and shift requirements, prioritising to ensure project delivery dates and targets are achieved.Foster strong relationships with Workshop Supervisors and the broader Production team to achieve seamless project execution.Report on production progress, resource utilization, and plant & equipment issues.YOU Searching for a capable operations leader with experience in industrial engineering, fabrication & machining of heavy industrial equipment and machinery.
You will be passionate and strive to meet your customers' project targets.Significant operational management experience ensuring effective planning & scheduling of custom jobs through the workshops, allocation of engineering trade resources, and ability to maintain budget and timelines.Engineering trade background (Boilermaker, Welder, Fitter, Machinist).Strong Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) Management Capability and Attitude.Experience and knowledge working with computer manufacturing/production applications such as ERPs (M1, SAP, Pronto, or customised Excel XLS).Solid understanding of quality standards and health and safety regulations.Strong leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and mentor a diverse team.Experience in reporting on key production metrics.OPPORTUNITY This is a rare career opportunity to lead an experienced Production team, supported by a highly capable engineering group, in a world-class engineering facility.
