Step4 is seeking a dynamic and experienced Operations Manager to lead and oversee key operational functions, ensuring efficiency, productivity, and an exceptional customer experience.
Reporting to the CEO, the Operations Manager will manage Project Management & Logistics, Warehouse & Dispatch, Procurement, and Customer Service, driving success across the organization's importing and wholesaling operations.
This role also demands exceptional people management and leadership skills to inspire, develop, and empower the team, while delivering outstanding results.
Key Responsibilities Provide clear direction, coaching, and mentorship to team leaders and staff across all operational functions.Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture aligned with Step4's values and mission.Develop and manage performance objectives, ensuring accountability and professional growth for team members.Identify training and development needs to build team capability and ensure long-term success.Manage and Grow Gross Margin Develop and implement operational strategies to optimize costs, improve efficiencies, and grow gross margin across all functions.Collaborate with procurement, logistics, and warehouse teams to identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality and service standards.Balance financial performance with delivering an unparalleled customer experience, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and loyalty.Project Management & Logistics Coordinate project timelines and resources to ensure on-time delivery of goods and services.Collaborate closely with the Projects & Logistics Coordinator to streamline customer delivery schedules, identify potential bottlenecks, and proactively resolve them.Implement and monitor logistics strategies to minimize delays and optimize supply chain performance.Warehouse & Dispatch Oversee warehouse operations, ensuring accurate inventory management, picking, packing, and stock replenishment.Work collaboratively with the Warehouse Manager to implement efficient processes, maintain accurate stock levels, and improve operational workflows.Manage dispatch workflows to ensure timely delivery and order accuracy, aligning with customer expectations and project requirements.Drive the implementation of best practices in stock control, including regular cycle counts and efficient stock handling.Procurement Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure timely and cost-effective sourcing of goods.Work collaboratively with the Purchasing team to implement efficient purchasing systems and processes.Optimize stock management processes to maintain healthy stock levels, improve stock turns, and align with working capital goals.Monitor market trends and identify opportunities for cost savings and improved supplier terms.Customer Service Ensure the customer service team delivers a seamless experience from order placement to post-sale support.Address escalations, providing resolutions that balance customer satisfaction with business objectives.Monitor and improve customer service processes to enhance the overall customer journey.Process Improvement Identify opportunities for process improvements across all operational areas to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.Lead initiatives to implement changes, leveraging LEAN principles or other process improvement methodologies.Foster a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging team members to suggest and adopt innovative solutions.Key Requirements Proven experience in an operations management role, preferably within importing and wholesaling industries.Proficiency in process improvement, with LEAN experience strongly preferred.Strong understanding of stock management principles, including stock turns and working capital cycles.Demonstrated experience in people management and leadership, with a focus on coaching, development, and team-building.Track record of successfully managing and improving gross margin, balancing financial performance with exceptional customer service.Expertise in logistics, procurement, and warehouse management systems.Ideal Team Player Attributes:Hungry – Driven to go above and beyond, with a strong work ethic and enthusiasm for achieving results.Humble – A team-oriented attitude, placing the organization's success above personal ego.Smart – Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to navigate relationships and communicate effectively.Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities.High level of communication and stakeholder engagement skills.A commitment to Step4's mission of creating early learning spaces that empower young children.What We Offer A supportive and collaborative work environment.Opportunities for professional growth and development.A chance to make a tangible impact in a growing organization dedicated to improving early learning experiences.How to Apply If you're passionate about operations management, embody the qualities of an Ideal Team Player, and have the expertise to lead Step4's core functions, we'd love to hear from you!
