ABOUT THE ROLE As the Open Pit Training Coordinator, you will be responsible for providing sufficient training to Open Pit employees to achieve desired performance objectives in compliance with site health, safety, and environmental procedures.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING Ensure that all employees, management, contractors, and visitors are aware of their obligations, policies, and procedures relating to HSE. Maintain a relevant and up-to-date induction and training program for all personnel at the open pit sites. Ensure that all relevant reports, documentation, and plans are developed, approved, and submitted to meet obligations under the relevant legislation and government policies. Provide formal and informal reports to the Training Superintendent and team as required. Assist with the development, implementation, and review of HSE policies, procedures, and risk management plans. Continually monitor and manage training requirements of all operators to ensure skills requirements are met. Maintain detailed and accurate record-keeping of all training, inductions, and assessments conducted, along with any other relevant documents where required. Liaise with other department Training Coordinators in a combined coordinated effort of site-wide training events when appropriate. Aid fellow trainers in other departments as required. SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (essential). Certificate IV in Occupational Health & Safety (desirable). Minimum of 2 years exposure to an Open Pit mining operation (Gold Mining exposure desirable). Experience with project work and time management. Thorough knowledge of all relevant State and Federal legislation relevant to Mining Operations in Western Australia. Excellent understanding of applicable Health and Safety standards and codes of practice. Emergency Response Team experience (highly desirable). Demonstrated high level of experience in the application of Health and Safety legislation relevant to mining practices. Highly competent with demonstrated skills in spreadsheet and presentation applications, word processing, and database applications. Highly competent with HSE related software (Cintellate, Chemalert, etc.). Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including liaising with stakeholders and report writing. Ability to interact proactively with management and staff at all levels of the organisation in the resolution of Health and Safety issues. BENEFITS Permanent full-time role with immediate start. Receive up to $5k site allowance per annum, depending on your site location. Receive up to 10% short-term incentive payment (STIP) of your base salary.
