Job summary The Preservation Engineer is responsible for the preservation and maintaining a fit for purpose status for the entire electrical and mechanical scope (Turbines, Generators, Hydraulic Steel Structures, BoPe and BoPm) of the Snowy project. They drive the overall preservation activity in accordance with the manufacturer's specification and quality requirements. Ensures that any issues are identified, and a rectification discovered and develops mitigation measures to ensure contract milestones are met within time and budget. They develop the preservation schedule and lead the preservation function, providing clear direction for all preservation activities. The preservation engineer reports to the Onshore Logistics Manager. This position is a fly in/fly out basis, on a 14/7 roster based at our Lobs Hole site as part of the Snowy Mountains 2.0 project.
Your Responsibilities Assure everyone within area of responsibility commits to our HSE culture and follows the respective rules and procedures for storage of materials and substances.Overall management of the preservation activities and liaison with the site quality team to ensure in-time material availability at the place of installation and proper storage as per storage and handling instructions.Establish and maintain close communication and coordination with the Field services engineering and external parties, regarding preservation requirements.Initiate frequent inspections as per the schedule and procedures.Initiate and participate in site planning meetings.Escalate critical issues to the Site Production Manager.Your Profile Engineering degree (Civil or Mechanical).HSE and Quality Mindset.Previous demonstrated experience in a management level position in preservation or site management roles in large Hydro Power projects or in similar industries.Sound technical and operational knowledge of hydro-power equipment installation and commissioning.Excellent understanding of preservation requirements and look-ahead planning mentality.Good understanding of technical sequence and related material requirements.Being customer and people oriented, accountable and solution driven.Team player with strong leadership of workforce and subcontractors.Fully fluent in English; due to the international team set-up additional languages are beneficial.Project Information: Snowy 2.0 is the next generation of the iconic Snowy Mountains Hydroelectric Scheme, and construction of this major pumped-hydro project is well underway. Once complete, the Scheme will provide 2000 megawatts of dispatchable, on demand renewable power and approximately 350,000 megawatt hours of large-scale energy storage to the Australian National Electricity Market. Voith is the awarded Subcontractor. The above role is in connection to this project.
