About the role The Self-insurance OHS Performance Team forms part of an integral function that supports the sustainability and effective oversight of the self-insurance model.
Work undertaken by the Self-insurance OHS Performance Team provides valuable input into the assessment of self-insurer performance, which contributes to the ongoing assessment of renewal and approval to be a self-insurer.
The Self-insurance OHS Performance Specialist is required to take a leading role in ensuring self-insurers maintain the highest levels of OHS standards by providing sufficient, accurate and timely information about self-insurers' OHS management systems (OHSMS) to enable an informed decision to be made regarding approval or renewal of a self-insurer.
This role also provides stakeholders, such as other WorkSafe teams, regulators, employers and certification bodies with technical support and advice regarding the content and application of the relevant self-insurer OHS management system audit tools and other OHSMS standards.
You will be: Leading OHSMS assurance program activities across a portfolio of self-insurers using AS/NZS ISO 45001, in alignment with policy and proceduresBuilding and maintaining strong relationships with self-insurers and key internal and external stakeholders to achieve agreed goals; work collaboratively, embrace continuous improvement ways of working, enhance knowledge sharing, and influence change where requiredReviewing and approving self-insurers submissions/data provided in response to requirements of the OHSMS assurance program activitiesFollow-up of all post assurance activities, including appropriate remediation of non-conformances, identifying any areas for improvement and trends over time, monitoring triggers that escalate for increased oversightTaking accountability for staying up to date with trends, research, and new approaches to safety management and emerging workplace environments and risks, so that value adding technical advice on OHSMS programs can be provided to strengthen current practice in industryFrequent travel to self-insurers sites across Victoria is required.About you You are an experienced OHS Specialist with demonstrated and significant onsite OHS management.
You have technical knowledge of the Victorian Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004 and associated legislation and regulations.
Your highly developed communication skills allow you to influence senior leaders and write concise and value adding audit reports.
Further, you demonstrate a growth mindset and are able to adapt to new ways of working, creating space for change with your stakeholders, with a drive for negotiating and effectively engaging.
You will also possess: Demonstrated experience in implementing and maintaining occupational health and safety systems, from either a workplace or regulatory perspectiveSignificant experience in auditing OHS management systems against AS/NZS ISO 45001, risk standards or other safety certificationsAbility to undertake effective research, analysis and produce accurate reports/material within specified timeframes, used to make continuous improvements to current internal processes and systemsAbility to work under limited supervision, individually or part of a team, to meet common goals, using excellent time management, prioritisation and organisational skillsAbility to be flexible and responsive to support the broader divisional needs, as requiredExperience in facilitating discussion groups and presentations advantageous.Qualifications:
