To provide occupational therapy services and consultancy.
To demonstrate an innovative approach to planning and implementing occupational therapy programs within the collaborative model.
To establish effective communication to consult and advise other team members, families and caregivers regarding student management.
To contribute to student support groups meetings.
To identify and participate in professional development consistent with identified personal and professional development needs.
- This is a 0.8 position: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
- This position is shared across 3 schools: Sunshine North PS 3 days per fortnight, Sunshine Harvester PS 3 days per fortnight and Deer Park West PS 2 days per fortnight.
ResponsibilitiesIn addition to the above, the successful applicant will also:
Design and implement goal-focused occupational therapy programs for students in classrooms and group settings.Manage and adjust a range of supportive and specialist equipment and liaise with external equipment providers as required.Support and embed sensory and fine motor programs within the school curriculum.Provide consultations and training for teachers, education support, leadership and therapy team around evidence-based and best practice strategies and implementation of these in the classroom.Provide recommendations to support students' independent learning plans.Liaise with speech pathologists around accessing both electronic and non-electronic communication systems.Support transition of students to both mainstream schools and post-school options.Complete funding, philanthropic and education department reports and applications.Be responsible for own clinical supervision and professional development as well as sharing responsibility for university professional practice students.Undertake other duties as directed by the Principal and Therapy leader.Who May ApplyIndividuals with the aptitude, experience and/or qualifications to fulfill the specific requirements of the position.
