Location ProfileHampton East School is a co-educational school that caters for a diverse range of students aged 5 to 18 with mild to moderate Intellectual Disability. We believe that all students have skills and abilities that will enable them to work, volunteer, and add value to the community. There are currently 113 students enrolled across two campus sites. Our Junior Campus is in Walsh Street Ormond and our Senior Campus is in Berend Street, Hampton East. Staff may be asked to teach across sites as the school will merge as a new school on one site (Hampton East from Term 1, 2024). Both campuses are situated near public transport and recreational facilities.
Hampton East School provides a caring and friendly environment that is safe, calm, orderly, and positive, allowing our students to thrive. Our enrolments are drawn from a range of local special, mainstream primary, and secondary schools in the Bayside and SAGE Networks. Our whole school Teaching and Learning Model identifies key strategies to improve student learning outcomes in literacy and numeracy, providing teachers with a structure that supports the implementation of the Victorian Curriculum.
Our Senior School teaching and learning focuses on a broad range of programs aligned to the Victorian Curriculum for students in Years 7-10 along with the Victorian Pathways Certificate in Year 11 and 12. Students engage in the VPC through applied learning that provides flexibility to meet individual learning needs. Our experienced staff modify the curriculum to fully engage students, maximizing their learning potential.
Our staff work collaboratively in PLC teams to evaluate student learning data and plan experiences that support students in developing a lifelong love of learning. We have a strong focus on continued professional learning to continually refine our pedagogical practice.
