Occupational Health Safety and Rehabilitation Specialist Job No:GEO8459 Employment Status:Full-time No. of Vacancies:1 Closing Date: 12 Jan 2025 AEDT Australia's leading provider of outsourced correctional services A salary of $114,400 per annum, plus super is on offer About the Opportunity We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and qualified Occupational Health Safety and Rehabilitation Specialist who is seeking a new challenge.

Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, you will be required to manage all aspects of health and safety. The OHS&R Specialist works collaboratively to lead, plan and drive WHS compliance within the workplace as well as oversee the injury management / return to work program in liaison with our workers compensation insurer.

You will be responsible for:

Monitoring policies and procedures to ensure that appropriate risk measures are in place, in line with current legislative requirements and revised industry and/or regulatory updates; Developing, implementing and promoting safety management initiatives, including the identification of areas for improvement for the effective on-going success of the initiatives; Evaluating and providing recommendations to improve safety operational efficiency and cost effectiveness; Providing advice and support to managers, teams, contractors and other key stakeholders on all WHS requirements; Enabling, guiding and supporting management and staff to meet safety obligations and KPIs, including risk assessments; Conducting audits, investigations, risk assessments and reviewing and recording all related information; Liaising with relevant parties on findings of assessments and follow-up corrective actions required; Collaborating with training specialists to ensure appropriate training is delivered and staff have the mandatory skills required to perform their roles; Providing leadership to the Work Health and Safety Committee; Recognising staff performing and continuously improving safety practices; Developing and conducting educational and training programs for staff in relation to injury management and occupational rehabilitation; and Ensuring professional confidentiality is always maintained. To be successful you will possess:

A minimum of Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety, with higher level qualifications being well regarded; Current and proven experience in a similar role, preferably manufacturing, construction or related industry; Excellent knowledge and understanding of the Australian Workplace Health and Safety legislation, regulations and codes of practice; Previous experience conducting audits, investigations and risk assessments; The ability to work with statistical information and prepare relevant reports; and Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written. Importantly, we are looking for someone who is proactive, able to work as part of a broader Human Resources Team and has strong communication skills to influence change and engage employees.

You will be comfortable communicating industry updates, process improvements to the workforce as applicable and will participate in ongoing action plans, budgets, and injury management strategies in order to deliver outcomes in accordance with the GEO Health and Safety Plan.
