GEGAC is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation based on Gunaikurnai Country in Bairnsdale, Victoria.
Consisting of about 160 staff, GEGAC is a Not for Profit organisation that delivers holistic services in the areas of Primary Health, Social Services, Elders & Disability and Early Childhood Education.
GEGAC is a child safe agency and has a zero tolerance of abuse or neglect of children and young people.
Position Purpose
The Nursing Team Leader is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day delivery of the Primary Health programs and clinical area.
The role requires undertaking overall supervision of the nurses daily to ensure that all patients receive a quality and culturally appropriate service regarding their health care needs.
The coordinator acts as a resource to all GPs, nurses, staff and patients and their families.
The role will be 4 days working clinical and 1 day administration/quality.
Key Selection Criteria
Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Victorian Aboriginal Culture and the ability to liaise with and support the local Community.
Demonstrated experience in managing teams – preferably in a Health setting.
Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills and demonstrated organisational ability.
Demonstrated ability to prepare produce reports for Executive Management and collate data on incidents.
Demonstrated ability to build trusting and productive relationships with staff, clients and stakeholders.
Confident and capable of working as the coordinator in a busy unpredictable environment – dealing with competing priorities.
Experienced at maintaining client confidentiality.
Qualifications and Registrations Requirement (Essential or Desirable)
Valid Driver's License

Experience in leadership within an Aboriginal Health Service
DESIRABLE
AHPRA registration
ESSENTIAL
A satisfactory Working with Children Check and Fit2Work Police Check
ESSENTIAL
A person of Aboriginal / Torres Strait Islander background
DESIRABLE
Proof of COVID-19 vaccinated to align with mandatory vaccination directive applying to authorised workers
