Position Details:
Maintain competence to practice in accordance with national competency standards for the Nurse Practitioner as directed by the Nurses and Midwives Board of Australia (NMBA).
Provide advanced and autonomous expert care to patients and families in accordance with Nurse Practitioner legislation and functions by:
Renewing prescriptions repeatsAssessment and management of wounds including removal of stitchesAssessment and management of sprains and strains, aches and pains, or other acute concernsBladder health managementSkin health managementDigestive health managementSexual and reproductive health managementOngoing management of asthma and COPDContinuing the care maintained with patient's current treating GPPatient management within own scope of practiceProvide management of long-term conditions in line with national guidelines and pathwaysManage patient recalls, reminders and follow up of test resultsWork collaboratively to support pharmacist, nursing, and allied health colleagues in the performance of their clinical roleEscalate care to general practitioners where indicatedRefer for specialist care where indicatedPlan and develop a problem-solving approach to patient careRecord and maintain accurate, adequate, and relevant patient records using the established practice protocols and computerised medical records system while meeting legislative standards and accreditation requirementsComplete mandatory training and education as relevant to the roleAssist in the professional development of othersComply with the NMBA code of conduct for nurses and code of ethics for nursesAbility to effectively network and build a community of practice with allied health practitioners including OT, Physiotherapists, Exercise PhysiologistsWork alongside and collaboratively with Pharmacist in Charge to deliver quality health care for patientsProviding clinical governance and oversight for subcontracted community nursesUnderstanding and ability to build relationships with ATSI and community-based supportsAble to travel within Queensland locations as required to attend patient's needsQualifications & Experience: Strong administrative experience (minimum 2 years) (essential)Post graduate qualifications in wound and stoma care, diabetes, or related community qualificationsWillingness and ability to obtain Medicare Provider Number to treat Medicare patientsKnowledge of MBS Items for Nurse PractitionersAbility to create clinical procedures and update in accordance with legislative standards and accreditation requirementsSalary Information:
$45 - $65 per hour.
