About the Role The Nurse Educator Specialist Services plays a pivotal role in supporting and coaching the specialist services workforce to deliver high quality care to clients with progressive conditions. This role ensures that client specific support needs are met in a person-centered, holistic manner, aligning with the principles of quality care and service delivery.
The Nurse Educator is responsible for:
Undertaking and facilitating the delivery of theoretical and practical-based training at the Specialist Services to nurses and disability support staff in all domains of disability, NDIS High Intensity Skills Descriptors and mandatory training requirements.Developing and facilitating a structured training program; providing hands-on support and educating people with disabilities and their families, where appropriate.High level clinical assessment and review of client specific supports to flexibly adapt, develop or deliver education material responsively to ensure client safety and staff competency.Developing an education framework that meets the governing standards mandated by the NDIS Quality and Safeguarding Commission.Providing professional support and development of a clinical nature to the specialist services nursing workforce.Providing regular assessment of staff skills in relation to providing client-focused supports.The Nurse Educator works according to a practice development framework promoting and facilitating training, education, evidence-based knowledge translation, high quality customer supports and a positive workplace culture.
About You: To be successful in this role, you will need:
Extensive experience in the delivery of education and training within a practice development framework.Significant clinical experience in acute and neurological nursing.Ability to build effective relationships with staff, clients, and external stakeholders.Experience in managing and evaluating educational programs.Familiarity with working with people with disabilities and their support networks (desirable).Expert knowledge in mechanical ventilation and tracheostomy.Knowledge of current Australian Health System and ability to apply this to practice.Understanding of key governing and legislative requirements of:NDIS Practice Standards and Quality IndicatorsDisability Services Act (2006) VictoriaOther requirements: Bachelor of Nursing or recognized equivalent.Registered Nurse with current AHPRA nursing registration.Current CPR or equivalent certification.Respiratory and Tracheostomy experience.Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment or equivalent qualification.Demonstrated ability to deliver education and training within a practice development framework.Significant post-basic clinical nursing experience.Previous experience in a similar role or at a senior clinical level.Ability to build effective relationships with a diverse range of people.Current National Police Record Check.International Police Check (if required).NDIS Worker Screening Check.Valid Australian Drivers Licence.Working with Yooralla We employ individuals dedicated to providing quality, sustainable and flexible services, that uphold human rights and create opportunities, empowering individuals to live the life they choose.
