A career at ASC is like no other, delivering a deeper purpose we can all be proud of.About the OpportunityThe Nuclear Baseline, Mindset and Capability Lead plays a pivotal role in establishing a robust framework for people, culture and process within ASCs Nuclear operations. This position is responsible for the coordination and creation of comprehensive approved governance structures and assurance working arrangements that ensure compliance and operational integrity. Additionally, the Lead supports the Nuclear Baseline by defining core capability requirements tailored to each licensing phase, facilitating a clear understanding of necessary competencies and resources, and ensuring the 'right nuclear culture' for the people undertaking the work. The role includes both input into, definition and monitoring the cultural transformation of the enterprise by promoting the 'Nuclear Mindset' (core values from the Australian Submarine Agency (ASA)) to foster the right behaviours for a nuclear environment.This role represents a rare opportunity to work on the pioneering SSN AUKUS Build Program, delivering an essential sovereign capability for Australia.Note: This role is established early in ASCs Nuclear pathway. Therefore, this role will change with the evolving needs of the business.This is a full-time opportunity based at our Osborne site in SA.ResponsibilitiesLead the design and development of nuclear systems and components, ensuring they meet project specifications and regulatory requirements.Ensure all nuclear activities comply with relevant safety and regulatory standards. Conduct safety assessments and implement necessary measures to mitigate risks.Liaise and work with internal & external stakeholders to support the nuclear requirements into the business.Provide technical leadership and support to the Nuclear and Capability Department (NCD). Address and resolve technical challenges, ensuring that all activities are conducted efficiently and effectively.Identify and mitigate risks associated with nuclear operations. Develop and implement risk management plans to address potential issues and ensure the safety and reliability of nuclear systems.Maintain clear and effective communication with all stakeholders, including project updates, technical reports, and regulatory compliance. Provide regular updates on nuclear operations.Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in nuclear operation processes and systems. Implement innovative solutions to enhance efficiency, safety, and performance.About youTertiary Qualifications in Nuclear, Engineering or a related field. A Master's or Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering is highly desirable.Chartered Engineer or equivalent certification in nuclear engineering.Experience coordinating with a team of technical personnel in complex and unique industrial environments.Knowledge of systems engineering and 'requirements management' principles.Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills.Self-motivated, and able to manage ambiguity in complex environments and visualise solutions.Exceptional and effective time management, planning and organizational skills.Proven ability to consistently and positively manage multiple stakeholders and priorities simultaneously.Proven decision-making ability and leadership skills.Previous experience within the Defence Shipbuilding or Nuclear Industries will be highly regarded.Experience delivering nuclear projects / cultural transformation / role identification will be highly regarded.EligibilityThis role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to an NV1 level.
