Deliver major State and Commonwealth water infrastructure initiatives.Reporting to the Executive Director, Water and River Murray.Lead a large and committed team across multiple locations.The Department for Environment and Water (DEW) is a leading authority on key issues such as climate change, conservation, sustainable land management, biodiversity, and water security within South Australia. Reporting to the Executive Director, Water and River Murray, the Director, Water Infrastructure and Operations leads the operations, maintenance and asset management of water related infrastructure, and the development and oversight of large-scale water related infrastructure and operations projects. The role is also responsible for overseeing the delivery of a number of South Australia's key Murray-Darling Basin Plan commitments and Joint Venture obligations and delivering the works plan for the South Eastern Water Conservation and Drainage Board. Key outcomes will include:
Provide effective, positive leadership to the Water Infrastructure and Operations branch to deliver on Departmental objectives.Develop strong collaborative relationships with internal and external partners, which reflect in the branch being positively recognised for its high performance.A sustainable, enhanced approach to water-related infrastructure asset management and capability.To be considered for this role, you will be a seasoned asset manager, and supportive and collaborative leader of diverse teams, ideally with a water infrastructure focus. As a calm and capable leader, you will engender confidence in your team of specialists through your personal leadership style and integrity. An awareness of the Murray-Darling Basin Agreement and Murray-Darling Basin Plan is desirable, along with a foundational understanding of engineering and infrastructure projects. You will have highly developed communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills in complex environments, in order to win the confidence of funding partners and Ministers. Working closely with the executive team, you will have a proven track record of business planning, leading staff and effective change, and maintaining the sustainability of operations. You will also have demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining positive strategic partnerships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
