NTEU Industrial Officer/Senior Industrial Officer – National Industrial and Legal Team (appointment at relevant classification level for successful candidate) Additional 17% employer superannuation Rewarding career with a progressive organisation The National Tertiary Education Union (NTEU) is a federally registered membership-led union with coverage of academic and general staff in higher education.
The NTEU represents workers in all universities across Australia, along with their associated student organisations, research institutes and companies.

The National Office, based in South Melbourne, is seeking to employ a full-time staff member for their National Industrial and Legal Team – at a Level 6 or 7 Industrial Officer or a Level 8 Senior Industrial Officer contingent on experience.
Regular interstate travel is expected.

The position will complement an established and supportive team in the union's national office.
Opportunities for advancement in the classification scale are provided by structured induction, mentoring and professional development for candidates appointed to Levels 6 and 7.

Duties include:
at appointment at Level 6 :
Working with colleagues on collective matters and representing, advising, and advocating on workplace issues and disputes.
Providing advocacy and preparing applications, submissions, and evidence for matters before the Fair Work Commission and relevant tribunals, alone or as part of a team at appointment at Level 7 or Level 8:
The provision of advice and assistance to all levels of the union on industrial matters Representation of members and the union in negotiations with institutional management and employer bodies Liaison and negotiation with other unions, education organisations and peak union bodies Research, preparation and advocacy of cases before courts and relevant tribunals The appointment will be made at NTEU Level 6 (Industrial Officer) Level 7 (Industrial Officer) or Level 8 (Senior Industrial Officer), depending on qualifications and/or experience and carry a salary in the range $108,828-$119,304 (Level 6) $123,498-$136,349 (Level 7) or $140,822-$153,813 (Level 8), plus an additional 17% employer superannuation component.
The terms and conditions of the positions are currently in accordance with the NTEU National Staff Enterprise Agreement 2024-2027.

To be successful in this role, you will have: Relevant qualifications or extensive relevant experience (relative to the level of appointment sought) Experience in negotiation and advocacy, or a capacity to perform these tasks if appointed at Level 6 Experience with unions and/or community organisations Well-developed communication skills, both written and oral The ability to effectively organise your own work and to work co-operatively with Elected Officers and other Union staff.
