Seeking experienced Transport Operations Manager to join our busy Sydney Distribution Centre. Due to continued growth, scope and diversity of our service offer, an exciting opportunity exists to join one of Australia's high growth private businesses.
Immediate Start Available: Lead and manage driver runs for a fleet of 40+ drivers + small warehouse teamLead and support our Branches in Canberra and Newcastle; cross-dock hubs with 3 + drivers.Blend of company, Sub-contractor and 3rd party drivers and fleetMonday to Friday | 6am starts, however flexibility required for occasional 5amFriendly team culture, active reward, and recognition with career developmentThe Opportunity This role will see you reporting to the Northern Zone Operations Manager - NSW/ACT/QLD. You will be responsible for NSW; Sydney, Newcastle and the ACT fleet.
Your key role will be to lead and empower your teams whilst managing costs and improving efficiencies, in turn maintaining a high level of customer service, sustaining our value of Service Excellence. You will need to analyse data and identify concerns and areas for improvement, continuously looking at ways to innovate. As you innovate and find efficiencies you will assist the GM Logistics to cascade these Nationally.
Key Responsibilities Include: Ensure a Safe and Compliant workplace to meet standards of CoRDG handlingEquipment safety and compliance checksManual Handling TechniquesRelevant workplace health and safety legislation and guidelinesPlan and supervise daily deliveries for a fleet of approximately 40 driversCreate and maintain a solid relationship with all our driversLead and motivate a small team of warehouse team members who support the Outbound ProcessEnsure all drivers sort and load in a timely and safe manner to ensure a prompt departureMonitor overall driver performance and ensure compliance of all policies and proceduresManage new driver induction process, ongoing training, and assessmentEnsure your team respond to daily transport enquiries from internal and external stakeholders in an efficient and effective mannerProactively identify transport operational issues, potential problems, and opportunities, able to recommend corrective actions where requiredBuild and foster successful business relationships with key stakeholdersAdapt to seasonal & project related increases in volume implement change with limited disruptionMonitor transport budget to ensure costs are effectively controlled, provide reportingAble to travel to Canberra and/or Newcastle as requiredAbout You To succeed in this role, you will demonstrate the skills below:
A minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar role within the Transport Operations industry or experience within the Outbound department of a busy FMCG DCDemonstrated experience in fleet management and transport allocation in a high-volume and fast paced customer service environmentDemonstrated commercial skills including P&L experience and reportingStrong awareness of Safety and Compliance ManagementHighly motivated and prepared to take the initiativeResults driven, seeking out opportunities for continuous improvementSound knowledge of Sydney, Newcastle/Canberra metro areasExceptional time management skills with the ability to juggle conflicting priorities in a demanding environmentAlways maintain a professional and positive attitudeWork well in a team environmentThe ability to adapt quickly to changes in priorities and situationsA high level of self-motivation with the ability to think on your feetStrong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with key stakeholdersExcellent numerical, verbal, and written communication skillsSystems knowledge of use of 1st Tier WMS/TMS, and Microsoft OfficeWhy work for COS?
