The Public Health Tobacco Control Officer is responsible for maximising compliance of the Local Health District and local businesses with Tobacco control legislation by coordinating and conducting programs relating to the education and enforcement of the NSW Public Health (Tobacco) Act 2008, Smoke free Environment Act 2000, Smoke free Environment Regulation 2016 and NSW Health Smoke free by laws.
This work is conducted through inspection, monitoring, education and training, evaluation, promotion and prosecution.
The growing issue of e-cigarettes also falls within the scope of this work.

About You
You have experience in tobacco control inspections, investigative processes and enforcement of NSW Smoke Free Environment Act and Public Health (Tobacco) Act and/or investigative procedures and enforcement of other NSW legislation and/or tertiary qualifications in a health or other related regulatory field.
You have the ability to negotiate and liaise with people at all levels when implementing and/or enforcing legislation, using your high level of verbal and written communication skills.
You can apply your professional and ethical boundaries when working in complex situations, and have a commitment to quality improvement.
You are committed to Indigenous health and understand the issues that impact on the health of urban Aboriginal communities in relation to population health.
Where You'll Be Working
The Tobacco Control Officer will work with the Public Health Unit, in particular the Environmental Health Team, and Health Promotion Unit staff across the Central Coast Local Health District (CCLHD).
This position is based at the Central Coast Clinical School and Research Institute (CCSRI) and involves travel within the LHD as part of a team of public health professionals and integrated service teams responsible for effective public health programs.
Located at Gosford Hospital, the new Central Coast Clinical School and Research Institute (CCSRI) is a six storey, state-of-the-art, research and education facility.

Please note that all NSW Health workers are now required to have received 3 doses of an approved COVID-19 vaccine or have an approved medical contraindication certificate.
