Are you an experienced medical/pathology transcriptionist with a great work ethic and a positive attitude? The Department of Tissue Pathology & Diagnostic Oncology, at Westmead Hospital has an opportunity for a permanent Full Time Administration Officer to join the team.

Provide an effective full range of tissue pathology administrative support services, including tissue pathology transcription typing, front desk reception, customer service, material handling (diagnostic, research, referrals and clinico-pathological meetings) and case allocation, filing and records management, mail receipt and sorting, photocopying and scanning to support the smooth running of the service.

Demonstrated experience working in a high workload transcription environment using medical/pathology terminology with speed (50-60 wpm) and 95% accuracy, including use of digital transcription equipment, voice recognition systems, laboratory information system, word processing and Microsoft applications. Have an understanding of laboratory accreditation requirements pertaining to Tissue Pathology procedures and materials management. Demonstrated ability and initiative to work both as part of a team and independently, supporting your team members and management, with sound knowledge of administrative procedures in health setting including patient confidentiality. Demonstrated sense of ownership and accountability with displayed problem-solving skills. A demonstrated knowledge to perform a wide range of administrative tasks in a high-volume work environment under general instruction requiring minimal supervision. Demonstrated high level interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills and the ability to confidently and courteously deal with a variety of people including internal and external stakeholders and customers. Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritise and organise own work, display time management skills taking into account the impact on others to achieve results to meet deadlines. Need more information?

Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination Against Specified Infectious Diseases
All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). Additionally, Category A workers are required to receive a booster dose three months after completing the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate (IM011 immunisation medical exemption form) certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.
