We're looking for an experienced Senior Finance Business Analyst to join our dynamic team, driving the financial oversight and operational excellence of the State's disaster expenditure funding. This pivotal role offers the opportunity to contribute to disaster recovery efforts by ensuring compliance, transparency, and efficiency in financial reporting and funding allocation.
Full time temporary role available up to 30 June 2026. Sydney based role with flexible work options and hybrid arrangements available. Clerk Grade 9/10 Salary ($120,859 - $133,183) plus employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading. About the role As a Senior Finance Business Analyst, you will:
Support the financial administration of the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA) and other funding programs to ensure efficient allocation and monitoring of resources. Provide high-quality reporting to senior stakeholders and fulfill the State's reporting requirements under the DRFA. Lead business process improvements, including developing project plans and implementing change management initiatives. Analyse financial data to produce insights for budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis, enhancing decision-making processes. Implement and improve financial systems and data visualisation tools, including Power BI, to highlight key trends and support funding programs. Prepare timely and accurate periodic reports, briefs, and publications to meet agency, audit, and stakeholder requirements. Collaborate with internal stakeholders, providing advice and recommendations to ensure robust reporting and compliance. Drive system improvements to enhance oversight and understanding of disaster recovery expenditure reporting. About You: To excel in this role, you will bring:
Proven experience managing funding allocations and financial systems in complex and sensitive environments. Strong technical knowledge of data visualisation tools, particularly Power BI, and advanced analytical skills. A deep understanding of government sector reporting, including the ability to interpret and present complex accounting issues to senior stakeholders. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills to engage effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to lead business process improvements and transformation projects, from gap analysis to implementation and training. A commitment to producing high-quality, timely, and compliant financial reports and recommendations. In addition to this, you will also meet the following essential requirements:
Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Business, Economics or Commerce or other relevant field and membership of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand or CPA Australia or IIA Australia, or equivalent relevant experience. About the Agency The NSW Reconstruction Authority (the Authority) is a statutory corporation within Planning, Housing and Infrastructure. The Authority will improve how NSW plans for disasters and help communities to recover from them faster.
To reduce the severity and impacts of disasters, the Authority will complete critical planning and preparation with communities, NGOs, businesses, and government. When disaster does strike, we will get recovery started swiftly and coordinate reconstruction efforts across agencies, communities, and other stakeholders.
