Job Description - Non-College Work-Study, S&F Facility (STU001843) Department Name: D0052 Sports and Fitness
Hourly Rate: $12/hr. or higher, commensurate with experience and/or education.
The Wellness and Success Center (WSC) is open seven (7) days per week. The applicant must be willing to work during operational hours as posted on its website.
Special Note: The WSC facility will observe the approved University of Houston-Downtown holiday schedule and/or approved closures due to inclement weather.
ResponsibilitiesPerform open and/or closing procedures, following all UHD emergency guidelines and standard procedures.Monitor/inspect equipment to identify wear and/or minor damage and properly record on the designated form(s) for further inspection.Schedule the use of facilities for members and/or guests; assist with any form completion related to equipment use, scheduling, and/or safety reporting.Continually monitor designated facility areas to ensure equipment is used as intended and documented appropriately.Discuss any safety concerns and/or misuse with Sports and Fitness leadership.Remain informed of equipment shutdown and emergency evacuation policies/procedures.Explain the use of certain devices and/or equipment in the facility and/or recreational space to members or guests.Provide assistance to members, guests, and/or authorized staff entering and/or exiting the facility.Respond to inquiries about the facility, membership options, rules, and regulations.Maintain confidentiality of the identity of membership records and transactions completed.Perform all other duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesAbility to multi-task and interact professionally with staff, faculty, and students.Familiarity with Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel).Well organized, responsible, punctual, and a self-starter.Good people skills and a professional attitude and appearance.Effective verbal/written communication skills.Willingness to provide excellent customer service daily.QualificationsMust be available to work 20 hours per week during the facility's hours of operation.Candidate must be a current UHD student with a 2.0 cumulative GPA or above.About University of Houston Downtown Celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2024, the University of Houston-Downtown (UHD) is the second-largest university in Houston and has served the educational needs of the nation's fourth-largest city since 1974.
