Job Summary
This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of the founding team at our brand-new location. The program is the latest initiative by the Ted Noffs Foundation, Australia's largest rehabilitation organisation dedicated to supporting young people. Opening day for the centre is set for March 2025, but the Assistant Manager will begin work immediately.
About Us:
Originally named The Wayside Foundation, The Ted Noffs Foundation was established in 1970 by the great Australian humanitarian, Reverend Ted Noffs, and renamed in 1992 to honour his life's work. Our services are focused on helping young people with drug, crime and mental health issues and have achieved significant success. Today, we run services across NSW, ACT and QLD with over 150 staff and nearly 300 volunteers committed to helping disadvantaged young Australians.
The Role:
The Assistant Manager will assist the Manager in the day-to-day program management and delivery, which includes group management and crisis intervention skills and organising positive recreational and educational activities. The role will require high levels of community sector management experience, leadership skills, and compassion for disadvantaged young people.
Responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:
Assisting the Manager in the day-to-day running of the PALM residential program and CALM aftercare program. Providing leadership and role modelling to all staff and residents. Ensuring that the household is a safe and supportive environment free from harassment. Promoting the knowledge and practices of a Therapeutic Community model of treatment. Assisting the Manager to coordinate the referral and intake of new clients. Participating in resident review and case management, staff meetings and in-services. Maintaining and monitoring client records and other data collection systems. Assisting in management of staff including recruitment, induction for new staff, and regular training. Sharing the supervision of all AOD Workers. Ensuring with the manager the coordination of the weekly rosters. Providing feedback on program functioning, highlighting issues of concern and developing strategies and actions to address these. Ensuring incidents are identified, investigated, processed and reported. Providing reports and administrative documentation as required. Assisting in establishing and maintaining inter- and intra-service linkages. Ensuring all research requirements and activities are met. Maintaining own professional development and contributing to the development of fellow staff. Flexibility in working hours, including occasional shift duties or weekend work as necessary. Participating in On-Call duties. Recognised qualifications and experience in working with young people with alcohol and/or other drug-related difficulties. Demonstrated capacity to coordinate a residential treatment service and to motivate, lead, and supervise a multidisciplinary staff team. Demonstrated knowledge of good practice in working with this client group. Demonstrated knowledge of Therapeutic Community Standards and Therapeutic Crisis Intervention. Staff supervision and related administrative experience, preferably within a residential setting. Knowledge and experience of good counselling practice. Experience in developing and implementing living skills disciplines and ability to coach and lead others. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Commitment to the principles of harm minimisation and to the aims of the Ted Noffs Foundation. Must have a current and valid Working with Children Card and Driver's Licence. Management experience in an adolescent residential program. Familiarity with local issues, networks and services.
