About the Role:
This is a fixed-term, full-time position until 10 April 2025 at 80 hours per fortnight within the Neurology Department. The Grade 2 Scientist in Neurophysiology is responsible for the recording of EEG studies in a variety of locations within the Royal Children's Hospital, including the outpatient department, medical and surgical wards, neonatal and paediatric intensive care units and the Royal Women's Hospital neonatal intensive care unit. A component of this role will encompass the scientist working in operating theatre assisting the senior scientist in performing multimodal evoked potential monitoring of spinal pathways or assisting the neurologist during epilepsy surgery. Nerve conduction and EMG investigation are performed on both outpatients and inpatients by the neurologist and the role of the scientist will involve assisting the neurologist during these investigations. A component of this role will involve the scientist being part of the after-hours roster providing neurophysiology services during weekends and public holidays.
Classification for this position will range from Grade 2, Year 1 – Grade 2, Year 4 (RY4 - RY7). The salary range for this position is $90,812.80 to $102,757.20.
Your skills and experience:

Bachelor of Science or Applied Science
Demonstrated experience and competence in the performance and understanding of a wide range of diagnostic neurophysiology tests or procedures.
Eligibility for Membership to the appropriate Professional Body (NSSA, ANTA, AAIM)

Desirable:

Experience in a tertiary paediatric neurophysiology unit
Enrolment in a Masters of Neurophysiology

You will also have:

Current National Criminal Record Check, or willing to obtain
Valid Working with Children Check, or willing to obtain
Current NDIS Worker Screening Check, or willing to obtain
Mandatory immunisations history including Covid-19 & Influenza Vaccinations, as subject to the Department of Health directive

About the department:
The neurophysiology unit is part of the Neurology department. Our neurophysiology service provides routine EEG monitoring, ambulatory EEG monitoring, long-term inpatient video EEG monitoring (VEM), nerve conduction studies, intraoperative multimodal evoked potential monitoring and intraoperative electrocorticography.
