Job Description We have an exciting and challenging opportunity available for an experienced senior network engineer be part of a close-knit, multidisciplinary team.
As a network engineer, you will be responsible for delivering projects on a nation-wide network and assisting senior network engineers with engineering, deployment and troubleshooting activities across multiple projects.
Working in a fast-paced environment in a collaborative team with broad skillsets, you will be involved in project planning, implementation and integration activities leveraging best of breed solutions.
You will be able to take guidance under minimal supervision and collaborate with other technical SMEs across the organisation in delivering tangible benefits for our Customer, in an exciting opportunity to influence Defence's ICT capability into the future.
Your New Role Will Include: Collaborating with other Senior Network Engineers to design and implement functional networking solutions and effectively deliver projects.
The installation and configuration of cutting edge networking hardware, including Nexus Switches, Palo Alto & Cisco ASA Firewalls, and CitrixLoad balancers.
Applying engineering best practices to analyse, design, develop, deploy, and support network infrastructure in a large data centre(DC) environment.
Creating and implementing network security measures, driven by the network security design.
Producing networking design specifications and detailed schematics for project delivery.
Providing in-depth analysis of existing network and server configurations to produce recommendations for DC network enhancements.
Analysing, developing, enhancing, securing and testing intricate network designs proposed in the project's high level design.
Developing and revising network technical documentation.
Opportunities to maintain high levels of technical expertise in areas such as Nexus Switches, Palo Alto & Cisco ASA Firewalls, Citrix Netscaler Load balancers, Cisco Fabric interconnects.
Qualifications What You'll Need to Succeed 5+ years of experience as a Network Engineer Previous experience in a similar Network Engineering role, with specific emphasis on routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers and Nexus/UCS data centre technologies.
Must have Cisco CCNP certified in Enterprise core, Data Centre Technologies and CCNA in Security or equivalent Palo Alto Certification: PCNSA, or demonstrated equivalent capability.
CCNP, CCNA (Data Centre or Enterprise), PCNSA or Cisco Security certifications, or demonstrated equivalent capability.
Solid understanding of networking with modern server hardware, examples include Cisco UCS, Nutanix HCI and Dell; Solid understanding of networking with modern storage solutions, examples include Netapp, Dell EMC and Isilon Applied knowledge of WAN transport technologies, including OTV and other encapsulations Applied knowledge of dynamic routing protocols, including BGP and OSPF Experience with Citrix Application Delivery Controllers (Netscaler) will be valued.
Experience with NSX, NSX-T Or ACI will be advantageous Excellent English written and verbal communication skills; Solid organisational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills; Good knowledge of security as it relates to cloud-based infrastructure will be desirable; The ability to be highly effective in managing multiple, concurrent activities, while understanding and managing priorities, dependencies and risk.
