The role
This is an Aboriginal Identified role where Aboriginal identity, cultural knowledge or connections are a genuine aspect of the role. Positions are specifically noted under the provisions of the NSW Anti-discrimination Act (1977).
The Native Title Project Officer plays a key role in connecting Crown Lands with external stakeholders to facilitate Native Title projects and involves coordinating culturally appropriate administrative and support activities to meet government priorities related to Native Title and Indigenous Land Use Agreements (ILUAs). The Native Title Project Officer acts as a liaison between Registered Native Title Body Corporates (RNTBCs), local Aboriginal communities, and other stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and project delivery.
In this role, you will be tasked with providing accurate advice on complex Native Title and land management legislation and developing strong working relationships with diverse stakeholders who have varied and competing needs. You will also attend meetings, manage cultural consultations, and maintain accurate data to support project progress and compliance. As a Native Title Project Officer, you will ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards, while effectively communicating and negotiating with all parties to keep projects on track and aligned with legislative requirements.

What you will bring to the role
Ability to assess and interpret land use data to support compliance and decision-making.
Proficiency in effectively communicating with diverse stakeholders, including Indigenous communities and government agencies.
Capability to coordinate and manage multiple compliance activities and projects simultaneously.
Understanding and respecting the cultural sensitivities involved in dealing with Aboriginal land claims and Native Title matters.
Meticulous in maintaining accurate records, data entry, and compliance documentation.
Demonstrated ability to rapidly acquire and apply new skills, policies, and technology tools, ensuring seamless adaptation to evolving professional environments.
Key knowledge and experience
Experience with interpretation of the Aboriginal Land Rights Act 1983, Native Title Act 1993, and the Crown Land Management Act 2016.
Sensitivity to and understanding of Aboriginal Culture and an excellent understanding of Aboriginal community governance and structure.
