The role At Clayton Utz we are seeking a dedicated National Trust Compliance Manager to lead our trust compliance efforts across Australia. As the National Trust Compliance Manager, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining our high standards and contributing to our mission of excellence in legal services.
As the National Trust Compliance Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the comprehensive trust compliance function on a national scale. Your role will encompass managing our diligent Trust team, ensuring accurate and timely trust transactions, and maintaining unwavering adherence to trust policies, procedures and legal regulations. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with our external auditors for annual trust account External Examinations conducted for each state.
Key responsibilities Ensuring trust transactions (receipts, payments, transfers, transit monies) are processed by the trust teams within deadlines and are accurately recorded.Liaising with legal teams and trust teams to co-ordinate large and time critical trust settlements.Ensuring compliance with all trust policies, procedures and law society rules and regulations.Ensuring completion by the trust teams of daily, monthly and yearly tasks (daily bank reconciliations, annual trust statements, statutory deposit accounts, notifications to law societies etc).Reviewing and sign-off of monthly trust compliance reports for each state prior to partner sign-off and completion.Overseeing the management of controlled monies accounts and liaising with bank relationship manager, as well as working closely with the treasury accountant to co-ordinate trust settlements via online banking system.Monitoring of the national trust mailbox and trust workflow system to ensure requests are being actioned in a timely manner.Troubleshooting issues and assisting the trust teams with questions as they arise.Contributing to trust projects and system's testing, and other process improvements.Providing backup and assistance with the recording of trust transactions where required.Managing the office accounts receivable function.Skills & Experience Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar Trust Accounting role in a law firm is required.Strong understanding of Trust Accounting rules and legislative requirements for the management of trust accounts.Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Word and Excel skills and competence with other Microsoft Office applications.Understanding of relational databases is essential (Aderant Expert advantageous).Exceptional attention to detail.Highly developed organisational skills with a hands-on approach to work tasks.Ability to communicate effectively with a variety stakeholders.Ability to lead and co-ordinate a team consisting of direct and indirect reports.How to Apply?
