We have a strong focus on conservation, animal welfare, and engaging our visitors. Moonlit Sanctuary's team members provide high-quality animal care whilst striving for continual improvement in facilities, welfare, and self-development.
An exciting opportunity is available for a motivated individual to join our keeping team as a Mammal Keeper. Key responsibilities include daily husbandry including cleaning and feeding of the mammals, assisting the team with welfare, breeding, enrichment, and training. Moonlit Sanctuary expects all team members to be dedicated to conservation issues and promote positive animal welfare.
What you bring: Minimum of 1 years' experience working with mammal species in a zoo or wildlife parkUnderstanding of the 5 domains model of animal welfareImplementation of animal enrichmentStrong written and verbal communication skills, preferably being proficient in the use of Zoological Information Management System (ZIMS)Confidence with computer software and cloud-based applications including Microsoft Office/checklists and collaboration softwareAn understanding of the importance of hygiene and biosecurityConfident at delivering keeper talks to the publicAn ability to work weekends, public holidays, and school holidaysA current car licenceKey Selection Criteria: Certificate III in Captive Animals or equivalentAbility to handle a variety of native mammal speciesAbility to identify health issues in native mammal speciesSome understanding of positive reinforcement trainingWhat we can offer you: Generous employee discounts on all Moonlit Sanctuary services and productsFree on-site car parking & uniformFriendly and supportive teamAbove Award and penalty ratesAccess to an employee Wellbeing, Safety, and Support programApply today
