It is a highly mineralised granite-greenstone terrain with world-class deposits of gold and nickel. St Ives has produced more than 10.5 million ounces of gold, with the first major gold mining expedition commencing in the mid-1980s.St Ives Gold Mine operates mainly on a residential basis, with employees either living in Kambalda or Kalgoorlie as well as having a fly-in and fly-out option for those not living locally. With a 10-year life of mine, stability is also on offer.Role Details:Reporting to the Unit Manager: Technical Services at St Ives, you will be responsible for the leadership of the Mine Planning Engineering Departments, playing a crucial role in overseeing and optimizing mine planning activities to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective extraction of gold resources. You will contribute to organisational success by delivering optimised mining forecasts for underground and open pit mining operations through pragmatic, effective, and collaborative mine planning. These range from the short-term (implementation) through to medium-term (3 years) requirements (including annual budget forecasts) aligned to mine life of mine & strategic direction of the business.As an employee at Gold Fields, we expect you to act in a manner that seeks to align and enhance the values, safety culture, and performance of Gold Fields to create enduring value beyond mining.This role is offered on 8 days on 6 days off, 4 days on 3 days off roster, as either a residential within the local community or fly in fly out from Perth.Benefits include:Annual bonus scheme and long-term incentive planSalary sacrifice optionsIncreased annual leave entitlements, as well as long service leave pro rata after 5 years of continuous service.Educational assistanceAbout the role:Develop and implement comprehensive mine plans, considering geological data, ore body characteristics, geotechnical criteria, and mining constraints to optimize gold recovery.Work with technical and operational teams to optimize mining performance, both underground and open pit, ensuring safety, efficiency, and adherence to standards.Collaboratively review and update mine plans to leverage ongoing exploration, performance, and operational feedback aligning operations to annual business objectives and LOM strategy.Monitor and analyse mine physicals & costs, identify and drive business improvement projects, and implement cost-saving measures where possible.Communicate regularly with senior management and group technical services, providing updates on mine planning activities, production forecasts, and key performance indicators.Foster a culture of business and continuous improvement by regularly identifying and pursuing opportunities.Engaging with key stakeholders to ensure collaborative delivery of the mining plans.Provide leadership, mentorship, training, and development opportunities to team members.About you:Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or equivalentExtensive displayed mining experience with extensive underground engineering exposure, open pit and within gold desirableExperience and demonstrated understanding of developing operationally ready mine designs and schedules, managing engineering workflows, and technical study work.Strong communication and leadership skills, as well as demonstrated ability to support a multidisciplinary teamDemonstrated experience in Deswik.CAD, Deswik.Sched, Ventsim, and Microsoft OfficeValid WA Driver's LicenceApplications can be submitted via: https://careers.goldfields.com/AustraliaGold Fields is committed to achieving an inclusive workforce.
