Mine Geologist – Open Pit
to join our Mining team at our new flagship site – Murchison Gold Project, 50kms north of Meekatharra.
The project is a combined open pit and underground mining operation with an initial 9-year mine life. Site activities are ramping up now with construction underway, mining operations commencing early in 2025 and processing commencing shortly thereafter.
About the Role
The
Mine Geologist
reports into the Geology Superintendent and is responsible for the open pit mining geology, grade control and exploration drilling.
The role is offered on an 8:6 roster, FIFO from Perth.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with the geological aspect of project startup, with accurate execution and development of processes.
Undertake Open Pit geology functions are completed on a daily basis.
Ensure grade control drilling requirements are continuously met including planning and execution as required.
Make certain ore block creations are completed ahead of planned production, and markups are completed as per procedure.
Ensure Blast movement tracking completed to a high standard.
Liaise with Planning and Production Engineers as well as the mining contractor to contribute to the achievement of production targets.
Accurate capture of all ore movements, ore loss and dilution are minimised.
Complete geological mapping and 3D interpretations.
Assist in Resource growth through exploration drilling and Resource Development activities.
Assist Geology team with in end of month reconciliation tasks.
Ensure all geological data is captured to a high standard with QAQC completed as per procedure.
Assist Geology Superintendent in delegation of task when and where required.
Ensure compliance with MEK safety policies, The Work Health and Safety Act 2020 and the Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations 2022 as well as other appropriate legislation.
About You
Tertiary qualifications in Geology.
Ideally, you will have at least 1 year of experience as a Mine Geologist – Open Pit.
Surpac, Leapfrog, Datashed experience or similar.
Developed numeracy, written and verbal communication skills.
Proactive attitude and a willingness to develop knowledge.
Ability to work in a fast paced time sensitive environment, sometimes for long periods.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all tasks undertaken.
The ability to work independently or unsupervised.
Valid Western Australian Driver's Licence.
Valid National Police Clearance (less than 6 months old).
