Mildura Base Public Hospital (MBPH) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our Executive Leadership Team for a fixed term period of 12 months. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the financial sustainability, accountability, and operational success of our health service in the heart of the Mildura and surrounding Northern Mallee region.
Position Summary: As CFO, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the financial health and viability of our health service. You will provide expert leadership and strategic financial oversight across all aspects of financial operations, including financial reporting, budgeting, performance planning, health information, and business analytics. Your insights and advice will drive informed decision-making at the executive level, ensuring alignment between our financial strategies and organisational objectives.
Key responsibilities include: Leading financial operations to ensure compliance with action plans, legislative and regulatory requirements, while proactively identifying opportunities to optimise resources. Delivering robust financial management systems and insightful analysis that support strategic goals and operational efficiency. Collaborating with the CEO, Board, and Executive Team to guide the long-term financial strategy and ensure the effective use of resources. Managing financial risks and safeguarding assets in line with best practices and regulatory standards. Representing MBPH in high-level negotiations with key stakeholders, including the Department of Health, auditors, and external partners. What We're Looking For: The ideal candidate will have:
A Tertiary qualification in business management, accounting, or equivalent and Membership of Australian Society of Certified Practicing Accountants and/or Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia. Substantial experience in a senior management position in a large service organisation, preferably within Healthcare. Excellent accounting skills with a proven ability to manage complex financial issues. Significant experience in overseeing a range of strategic financial operations. A deep understanding of healthcare funding frameworks and financial management. Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
