An opportunity exists for an energetic and results driven person to help manage our conglomerate quarry 20km south west of Newcastle. The Teralba Quarry is a supplier of concrete, aggregates, road base and other products with an annualized maximum production capacity of approximately 1,000,000 tonnes.
Reporting to the Quarry Manager, this position leads a team of up to 16 people on the morning shift and/or up to 6 people on afternoon shift. The successful applicant will provide strong leadership in the areas of safety, environment, community relations, production and quality assurance. The Quarry Supervisor is responsible for the profitable operation of the quarry by having a high focus on production and maintenance costs whilst ensuring we provide quality and compliant products to our customers. Key responsibilities include:
Ensure a high level of safety, environment and quality standards are maintained; Provide leadership that promotes a culture that follows our values and ensures that we have high performing individuals and teams; Close liaison with existing and potential customers to maximize growth opportunities for the business; Ensure product quality and consistency to meet customer's needs; Ensure costs are managed in line with agreed budgets; Provide leadership in the area of operational improvement; Maximise fixed and mobile plant efficiency through effective production and preventative maintenance plans; Involvement in key planning and budgeting activities and responsibility for achieving agreed targets; Ensure compliance with Metromix Standards, Policies and Statutory Regulations. The successful applicant will possess:
Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills; 5 years of experience in hard rock quarrying is desired; 3 years of experience managing or supervising a team of at least 10 people; Certificate IV in Surface Extraction Operations or higher; Strong abilities in planning and organising; Strong problem solving and analytical skills; An understanding of the financial drivers of the business; Sound written and verbal skills; Valid driver's license.
